Two Months Later… I’m Still Going to the Gym

A while ago, I wrote here about finding the courage to give the gym another shot and hoping I wouldn’t quit after my very first month with a personal trainer.

Well… it’s been two months now and, much to my own surprise (and I’m pretty sure everyone else’s too 😄), I’m about to buy my third gym membership.

If someone had told me this two months ago, I would have laughed.

At first, I absolutely hated Tuesdays and Thursdays. Those were my training days with *le pam-pam. There were evenings when I could barely make it down the stairs after a workout, and the muscle soreness had me swearing I’d never set foot in a gym again.

And yet, I kept going back.

I think one of the biggest reasons is that I go with *le husband. He kept me going every time I felt like quitting, and I’d like to think I did the same for him.

Although… if we’re being honest, he’s actually lazier than I am. 😄

There. I said it.

When am I finally going to enjoy going to the gym?

In my case… probably never. 😂

I wouldn’t say I actually enjoy it yet. I’m still at the stage where I’m trying to convince myself that I do. 😄

Still, there’s one clear sign that something has changed.

We’ve started going to the gym even on the days we don’t have a session with our trainer.

Okay… by “days,” I mean one extra day a week, on top of our two regular sessions. Let’s not get carried away.

I think the difference is that, by now, we’ve gotten to know each other a lot better.

Me and *le pam-pam.

Or, to be more accurate, he’s gotten to know me.

He knows exactly how to challenge my pride just enough to squeeze out one more rep, even when I’m convinced I have nothing left in me. I don’t even have time to roll my eyes anymore—like I did during the first month—because he keeps proving I can do more than I think I can.

And, for now at least, that’s enough to keep me motivated.

Let’s see where I am in another six months. 😄
