Peach and Lime Smoothie – Easy Recipe with No Added Sugar

A glass of peach smoothie garnished with a lime slice, standing on a cork mat

A peach and lime smoothie sounds like a lovely way to start a summer weekend: something cold, fruity and slightly tangy to enjoy at your own pace. Peaches provide the main flavour, while lime adds that fresh note that changes the whole glass. No endless combination of fruits, and nothing to mask the flavour of the peaches.

This version contains no milk or yogurt and no added sweetener. It has a pulpy smoothie texture, and its flavour depends very much on the fruit you choose. So the most important part starts before we even get to the blender: with peaches that actually taste like peaches. 🙂 You’ll find the quantities and instructions in the recipe card below.

Why Try This Recipe

This combination works well when you want to make the most of ripe peaches without losing their flavour among lots of other ingredients. Lime adds contrast, but it shouldn’t turn the drink into limeade. The idea is to keep the peach flavour, with a citrus note at the end.

There’s no cooking involved and no required waiting time. If your ingredients are already chilled, you can get straight to it. This is the kind of drink that doesn’t require a counter full of equipment: a blender, a knife and a manual citrus juicer are enough.

You can also easily notice how each ingredient affects the result. There’s no banana to take over the flavour and no yogurt to change the character of the drink. It stays simple, with the sweetness of the fruit and the acidity of the citrus working together.

Which Peaches to Choose for a Flavourful Smoothie

Choose fragrant peaches that yield slightly to gentle pressure, with no mould or signs of spoilage. Avoid very firm fruit: the blender can break it down, but it can’t give it the flavour it’s missing. 🙂

Use yellow-fleshed peaches if you want a warm colour, similar to the one in the photograph. Keep the variety and skin in mind, though: don’t expect every glass to have exactly the same shade.

Tips for Flavour and Texture

Choose ripe, fragrant peaches. Firm or flavourless fruit won’t become sweeter after blending, however hard your blender works. 🙂

Leave the skin on if you don’t mind its texture. Wash the peaches thoroughly and bear in mind that tiny flecks of skin may remain in the drink. For a smoother texture, peel the fruit.

Add the water gradually. Use only as much as you need to keep the ingredients moving in the blender and reach your preferred consistency. It’s easier to thin a smoothie than to fix one that’s too watery.

Start with a little lime juice and taste before adding more. Keep the peaches at the forefront and adjust the tartness according to their sweetness.

Use chilled ingredients. Avoid compensating with lots of ice: as it melts, it dilutes the flavour.

Aim for an even, pulpy texture. If the ingredients aren’t moving in the jug, stop the blender and check the consistency before continuing. Follow your appliance’s instructions and always switch it off before reaching into the jug.

How to Serve It

A wide-rimmed glass works well for a pulpy drink. You can keep the garnish simple, with a lime slice on the rim, as in the article’s photograph. If you use a straw, choose one wide enough for the consistency of your smoothie.

Serve it alongside breakfast or enjoy it as a fruit snack. We don’t have to turn it into a replacement for an entire meal to make it worth preparing. Sometimes, a good cold drink to enjoy on a warm morning is enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Use a Juicer Instead of a Blender?

You’ll need a blender for this consistency, as it keeps and blends the pulp. A juicer separates parts of the fruit and would produce a different drink, with a different yield.

Is This Smoothie Sugar-Free?

The recipe contains no added sugar, honey or syrup. Peaches naturally contain sugars, though, so the correct description is “no added sugar”. The sweetness varies depending on the fruit.

Can I Make It Ahead?

For the flavour and texture intended here, I recommend serving it immediately after blending. You can get the ingredients and glasses ready beforehand, then blend just before serving. There’s no need to prepare the drink hours in advance.
