Blueberry Peach Smoothie – Easy Recipe with Mint and Flaxseed

A glass of purple smoothie topped with fresh mint leaves, on a green towel with houses and greenery in the background

Since Monday isn’t exactly the happiest day of the week, I decided to start mine with a blueberry peach smoothie. 🙂 It won’t fix everything that comes with the start of the week, but at least things are looking good in the glass.

This is a simple, fruity smoothie with a fresh hint of mint. Blueberries give it that deep purple colour, peaches add sweetness, and flaxseed flakes bring a little extra texture. There’s no milk or yogurt, so the fruit flavors take centre stage. You’ll find the quantities and instructions in the recipe card below.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

It comes together quickly, with no cooking or prep the night before. On a Monday morning, that’s already a pretty convincing argument. 🙂

The blueberries and peaches give it its fruity flavor, while the mint adds a little freshness. Without milk or yogurt, the fruit gets to be the star of the glass.

Along with flavor and colour, blueberries provide fibre and vitamins, while flaxseeds add more fibre to support digestion. Since the smoothie isn’t strained, it keeps the fruit pulp too. Simple, tasty, and with around 4–5 g of fibre per serving.

Tips for Flavor and Texture

Choose blueberries without any signs of mould and ripe, fragrant peaches. Remove any spoiled fruit, then wash the fruit and mint. You can leave the peach skins on if they’re in good condition and well washed; how noticeable they are in the finished smoothie will depend on your blender.

Use the mint leaves and discard any thick, woody stems. The mint should add freshness without leaving tough bits in your drink. Sprigs vary in size, so the strength of the mint flavor can change even when you use the same number.

The finished smoothie will have some texture from the fruit pulp rather than the consistency of a clear juice. If your blender leaves visible pieces of skin, check the texture before pouring it into glasses. Follow your blender’s instructions and switch it off before reaching into the jug; never put a spoon inside while the blades are running.

For a cold smoothie without diluting it, chill the fruit beforehand. There’s no need to refrigerate the smoothie after blending, so it’s easiest to make it just before you want to drink it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does blending fruit remove the fibre?

No. Blending changes the structure and texture of the fruit, but the fibre stays in the jug. Straining would remove some of the pulp, which is why this recipe doesn’t include that step.

Is this smoothie free from added sugar?

No. The original recipe includes honey as well as the sugars naturally present in the fruit. Honey still counts as an added sweetener, even if it’s a familiar kitchen ingredient.
