The Tourist: Elegance, a Little Mystery and a Favorite Exchange

The Tourist is one of my favorite films. I’ve watched it at least seven times, which probably says more than any review could. To me, Angelina Jolie is elegance personified, with an otherworldly beauty, while Johnny Depp is one of my favourite actors. Together, they make a duo I’d happily watch for an eighth time. 🙂

Beyond the mystery and the story, I love the interplay between them: she’s poised and self-assured, while he finds himself in a situation where he always seems to be one step behind. And this little exchange about a dinner invitation captures some of their charm:

– Invite me to dinner, Frank.
– Would you like to have dinner?
– Women don’t like questions.
– Join me for dinner.
– Too demanding.
– Join me for dinner?
– Another question.
– I’m having dinner…if you’d care to join me.
