What could be better than chocolate pudding? Well, chocolate peanut butter pudding, of course! 🤎

I don’t know why it took me so long to think of this combination, but better late than never. I wanted to make a simple, quick dessert that wasn’t too complicated, and the result turned out exactly as I hoped: a creamy, intensely chocolatey pudding with that delicious peanut butter flavor.

This is the kind of dessert you make when you’re craving something sweet but don’t want to wait too long before you can dig in. 😆 And, as a bonus, there’s no oven involved.

Tips for Making Chocolate Peanut Butter Pudding

Mix the dry ingredients well before adding the milk. This helps prevent lumps and gives you a smoother pudding.

Don’t walk away once the pudding starts to thicken. The texture changes quite quickly at this stage, so it’s worth keeping an eye on it and stirring continuously.

Use creamy peanut butter. It will incorporate more easily and help give the pudding its smooth, creamy texture.

Don’t worry if the pudding seems a little too soft when you take it off the heat. It will continue to set as it cools and become firmer.

What to Serve with Chocolate Peanut Butter Pudding

My favorite way to serve it is with banana and walnuts. The banana adds a little natural sweetness and pairs beautifully with the cocoa, while the walnuts add the crunchy texture that’s missing from such a creamy dessert.

But this is where you can have a little fun with it. Try fresh berries, chopped peanuts or other nuts, chocolate shavings, or even a little whipped cream if you want to make it extra indulgent.

And if you love the sweet-and-salty combination, a few flakes of sea salt on top can make all the difference.

Can You Make This Pudding Ahead of Time?

Yes! In fact, I think this chocolate peanut butter pudding is even better once it has cooled and reached its final texture.

It can be divided into small glasses or bowls and stored in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve it. If you’re making it for guests, it’s a very convenient dessert because you don’t have to prepare everything at the last minute.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of milk?

Yes. Use whatever milk you have on hand. If you prefer a dairy-free version, almond, oat, or soy milk can also be used, although the final texture and flavor may be slightly different.

Can I use crunchy peanut butter?

Absolutely, especially if you like little pieces of peanuts in your dessert. For an extra smooth and creamy pudding, though, I prefer creamy peanut butter.

Can I replace the brown sugar?

Yes. You can use another sweetener according to your preference, but the amount may need to be adjusted depending on how sweet the substitute is.

Can I make this pudding without peanut butter?

Sure, but then it wouldn’t really be the same recipe. 😁 Peanut butter is what turns a simple chocolate pudding into a chocolate peanut butter pudding.
