Handmade Honey Wedding Favors

Our friends Simona and Bogdan’s wedding was the first wedding we ever helped organize. And when I say “helped,” I really mean we got our hands dirty. 😀

We helped make the wedding favors from scratch. From the idea of using little jars of honey to getting every single one ready for the wedding, we were involved in the whole process. It was so satisfying to see all those little handmade details slowly come together and become part of the wedding day.

It was also our first experience doing something like this, which is probably why these little wedding favors have stayed in my memory for so long.

The idea was simple: small jars of honey, carefully prepared and turned into a little gift for the guests. Nothing complicated and, hopefully, nothing that would end up forgotten in a drawer after the wedding. Just something cute, personal and, most importantly, delicious. 😀

The wedding had a rustic-chic feel, so the honey favors fit perfectly with the atmosphere at Conacul Heldsdorf.

How We Made the Wedding Favors

We started with simple glass jars, burlap, ribbon and personalized tags, and turned them into little wedding favors for the guests.

It was one of those projects where every little detail matters — and where you quickly realize that saying “we’ll just make them ourselves” means a little more work than you initially imagined. 😀

We prepared each favor carefully, making sure they all looked good together and matched the overall wedding decor.

There was nothing particularly complicated or fancy about them. Just simple materials, a little patience and some creativity.

Why I Loved These Wedding Favors

I think their simplicity is exactly what makes them so charming.

Small jars of honey can be decorated in so many different ways: personalized labels, ribbons, twine, little floral details or anything else that fits the wedding theme.

For a rustic wedding, the combination of glass, wood, twine and honey works beautifully. And when the overall style is rustic chic, like it was here, these little favors feel like a natural part of the whole celebration rather than something added at the last minute.

In our case, the fact that we helped make them from scratch made them even more special. They weren’t simply favors that were bought and placed on the tables. They were a little handmade project that we got to be part of.

A Simple Idea for a Rustic Wedding

If you love handmade details and want even the smallest elements of your wedding to have a personal touch, handmade wedding favors can be such a lovely idea.

They don’t have to be extravagant. Sometimes all you need are a few simple materials, a little imagination and, of course, a pair of willing hands. 😀

In this case, the result was a collection of little jars of honey, ready to be given to Simona and Bogdan’s wedding guests.

And since we’re talking about handmade projects, I think the saying “one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration” fits perfectly here. Having the idea is one thing, but actually making all those wedding favors is another story. 😀

For us, though, it was a lovely experience and, more importantly, our first glimpse into just how many little details go into putting together a carefully planned wedding.

And these little honey wedding favors have remained one of my favorite memories from their wedding.
